Excellent Ruler Excercises
There are very few DVDs available dealing with this subject matter so when it came along I jumped at the chance to purchase it and wasn't disappointed. What I did find confusing, however, was the mirror image visualizations not synchronized with the instructional narrative i.e. when the performer was demonstrating a movement to the right the narrator described it as going to the left, and vice versa. Later, the "normal" view was in synch with the verbal instruction. What was designed to be helpful, wasn't.
Aside from that, the instruction was easy enough to follow (if one ignores the incongruousness) and the demonstration of the many exercises very well performed. The narrator's voice was very clear and easy to understand.
Without wanting to seem too picky, the visual background could have been better than just a folded screen that didn't cover the entire background of the demonstration but at times made the performer appear to be off-center. Apparently, little...
Nice info
I think this DVD was well presented and done with sufficient information and various angles that it was easy to follow. I find this very useful when working with some of the physically challenged people. The set where it was shot was in his house which is fine as it was not distracting. I would have enjoyed a little more explanation on the acupressure points discussed as they were announced in a foreign language and no English explanation. The DVD started with warm-up sequence, stimulating some pressure points and then showed the various postures with ample instruction. Later it was put together as a complete form so one could clearly see where the step-by-step sequence was going. I think Master Shao did a very nice job and is a beautiful set of exercises to learn.
